Celtic-Plus is an industry-driven European research initiative to define, perform and finance through public and private funding common research projects in the area of telecommunications, new media, future Internet, and applications & services focusing on a new "Smart Connected World" paradigm. Celtic-Plus is a EUREKA ICT cluster and is part of the inter-governmental EUREKA network.

Celtic-Plus is open to any type of company covering the Celtic-Plus research areas, large industry as well as small companies or universities and research organisations.

Celtic-Plus project HIPERMED amongst the three finalists for the prestigious EUREKA Innovation Award

The expert jury panel has selected the three finalists for the EUREKA Innovation Award 2014. The Celtic-Plus project HIPERMED is amongst them as winner of the category ‘added value’. HIPERMED (HIgh PERformance teleMEDicine platform) designed an open telemedicine platform. HIPERMED’s vision aimed at being the standard telemedicine high performance solution delivering services from a healthcare provider or wellness service to the citizens.

The project Coordinator Oscar Chabrera from Merkum-ViLynx was very excited when he learned that his project is amongst the finalists and said “I am very proud that our project was selected for this prestigious award. I am particularly happy that we are the winner of the category ‘added value’. This recognizes the huge commercial potential of the project results”.

The three finalists will present their project at the EUREKA Innovation Forum on 19 November 2014 in Basel. The public will vote on the most innovative project during the event and the results will be announced during the Award Ceremony.

Agreement for secure European network communications signed in Berlin

Major European communications technology companies signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of secure network technologies at the "Secure Communications for Europe" conference in Berlin on 24 June 2014. Read more...

Cooperation with European Technology Platforms and other related European activities

Celtic and the following ETP have agreed on a closer cooperation within their Strategic Research Agendas (SRA) and the Celtic work programme. For the time being this cooperation will be assured through observers at the Steering Boards. The SRA of the ETP are also possible work items for Celtic projects.

Celtic-Plus run its annual Event from 23 and 24 April 2014 at Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. A co-located exhibition area highlighted synergies and offered new insights between Celtic-Plus research projects and the ready for market solutions and use cases presented at WIMA  The Celtic-Plus Event was hosted by The Principality of Monaco.
